Fund the work
Branch offices, civic education and party elections cost money. A party funded by many small givers answers to them.
Subscriptions and donations are separate. Paying one does not do the other.

Where it goes
Eight lawful uses
Party funds may only be spent on the purposes set out in the constitution.
Article 10.5, party constitution
- Running the party and paying its staff.
- Conducting party elections and nominations.
- Policy research and writing the manifesto.
- Opening and running branch offices in the counties, constituencies and wards.
- Civic education and voter mobilisation.
- Campaigns, within the limits set by electoral law.
- Training members and officials.
- Taxes and statutory obligations.
What it cannot buy
Nobody's pocket
Article 10.6 is short and absolute.
Party funds shall not be distributed to any members, party officials, or candidates under any circumstances, whether as gifts, loans, personal allowances, or any other form of personal benefit.
- Unauthorised distribution of party funds is gross misconduct.
- It is grounds for immediate expulsion and referral to law enforcement.
- The Treasurer and the Secretary General must report any violation to the National Executive Committee and the National Delegates Congress.
The rules we follow
Four safeguards
Contributions are also subject to the limits in the Political Parties Act.
The party accepts contributions from members, well-wishers and other lawful sources in Kenya. We do not accept money from foreign governments or foreign organisations.
The National Treasurer receives all money, issues receipts and preserves vouchers for every payment made to the party.
Party bank accounts require any two signatures from the Secretary General, the National Chairperson and the National Treasurer, and the Treasurer must be one of them.
The financial year runs 1 July to 30 June. Accounts are audited by an ICPAK-certified firm that holds no office in the party, then filed with the Registrar.
