The Peoples Party of Kenya (PPK) is deeply committed to the
belief that true national progress is only possible when both women and men
are equally empowered to contribute, lead, and benefit from development. We
are determined to break down the barriers that have historically hindered
women’s full participation in political, social, and economic life by creating
inclusive policies, programs, and systems that promote gender equity at all
levels of society.
1. Gender-Sensitive Policy
Framework
PPK will ensure that every policy and law is gender-responsive—crafted
with the awareness of gender disparities and committed to eliminating
discrimination. Our aim is to make gender considerations a standard element of
all governance, budgetary, and policy decisions.
2. Women’s Involvement in
Development Processes
We will promote the active inclusion of women in all stages of development—from
planning and design to implementation and evaluation. This will be achieved by:
- Mandating
gender representation in decision-making bodies and project committees.
- Creating
mechanisms for women’s voices to shape community and national development priorities.
3. Affirmative Action and
Representation
To address historical imbalances, PPK will push for affirmative
action measures that ensure:
- More
women are nominated and elected to political and leadership positions.
- Gender
quotas are observed in public service appointments, party leadership, and
parliamentary representation.
- Young
women and marginalized groups are empowered to participate in public life.
4. Access to Affordable
Microfinance for Women Groups
Economic empowerment is essential for gender equity. PPK will:
- Support
women's access to affordable micro-financing schemes at the
grassroots level.
- Encourage
entrepreneurship and cooperative models for income generation.
- Partner
with financial institutions to design loan products tailored to women’s
realities, especially in rural and informal sectors.
