At the Peoples Party of Kenya (PPK), we recognize that access
to clean and reliable water is fundamental to human survival, agricultural
productivity, and national development. Our policy aims to ensure that every
Kenyan, regardless of location, has sustainable access to water for
domestic needs, farming, and livestock. Water security is essential for food
security, public health, and climate resilience.
1. Borehole Drilling and
Rural Water Supply
To address water scarcity, especially in arid and semi-arid regions, PPK
will:
- Drill
and maintain boreholes in underserved areas
to provide a stable supply of groundwater for livestock and communities.
- Equip
these boreholes with solar-powered pumps and storage tanks to
ensure year-round access.
2. Dam Construction and
Water Harvesting
In flood-prone and rainfall-rich areas, we will:
- Construct
medium and small dams to harvest and store
rainwater.
- Support
local communities in building water pans, reservoirs, and earth dams
for agricultural and livestock use.
- Promote
water catchment conservation to sustain these reservoirs.
3. Sustainable Agricultural
Water Practices
Water use in agriculture must be smart and efficient. PPK will:
- Collaborate
with research institutions and NGOs to train farmers in climate-smart
irrigation techniques, such as drip irrigation and water recycling.
- Advocate
for watershed management programs that promote soil and water
conservation.
4. Clean and Safe Water for
Domestic Use
We are committed to ensuring that all households have access to treated,
safe drinking water by:
- Investing
in water purification and distribution infrastructure.
- Partnering
with counties and development agencies to expand rural water systems.
- Promoting
community-based water safety awareness and household-level treatment
methods.
